We are the port of Dumfries Development group. Our aim is to promote the harbours on the River Nith and Nith Estuary. The port of Dumfries has been of trust port status since 1811. The Nith Navigation Commission is still the regulatory body. Although the Nith Navigation Commision no longer tends the river, the PDDG is attempting to fulfil the NNCs role of caring for the rivers harbours.
The PDDG is a non-profit organisation of local
volunteers who have an interest in reviving the ports and harbours along
the Nith from their current state of neglect in order that these
facilities will be available for generations to come.
